| ZipRealty Offers 'Augmented Reality' |
|
ZipRealty's new HomeScan iPhone app now has augmented reality capabilities, allowing users to determine whether a home is for sale simply by pointing their phone's camera at it. HomeScan also displays the address and distance to any properties that are for sale or have recently sold as they come into view.
The app also has an embedded "radar" that makes suggestions to the user on which direction to point to search out other possible for sale or recently sold properties. By clicking on a listing, users can view all the details as well, from prices to interior photos, from square footage to value estimates.
'Augmented reality' is a term that describes the interlay of the physical world with virtual technology, making a middle ground between the two.
HomeScan's augmented reality capabilities are available only on 3GS iPhones. However, users of any iPhone or iPod Touch can use it to search for and access all MLS-listed homes for sale. ZipRealty clients can also connect directly with their agents though the application.
