If you're like a lot of agents, you have a cell phone that rings at all hours because it's what you must use to get phone calls from your ads, signage and other listings. For those without land lines, it can be somewhat of an inconvenience.
YPN Lounge's Jonathan Osman found a solution to his predicament--he opted for a virtual phone system. In his case, he chose to go with Google Voice.
It's free to register, but you must be able to get an invitation to use it. You can use your own number or get a local number from Google to mask your own, and make calls from the Google Voice website or from the mobile app. The voicemails also are viewable through a voice-to-text transcription that allows you to read an email of a voicemai.
If you're an agent on the search for more robust features, there are paid vendors that exist, most charging less than $60 a month, such as RingCentral, Phonebooth or Grasshopper (formerly GotVmail). These providers include services like a local number, a toll-free number, e-fax, company directory, VoIP and more.
