Video marketing is a powerful
communication tool for business.
Why should small business focus on
video?" asks Kern Lewis,
a writer on Forbes.com. "Video
marketing works better than most other electronic tools because it hits two
senses simultaneously (sight and hearing) where most other media only titillate
the eyes. There is a reason thousands more humans watch TV rather than read."
Lewis says that video gives you more
bang for the buck. He states that the critical success factor is
the story line, not the production quality.
With the digital video camera market boom, it is easier to produce your
own video and Lewis feels the rough-hewn visual quality of a "home video" has
an edgy appeal.
Wayne
Wall, CEO of Flimp Media disagrees. A
professional video will engage the viewer.
"In general you have to pay professionals to create good content, using
their talents and ideation," says Wall, serious companies need to invest in
quality content in order to get the results they want."
Lewis does suggest that a video production person can help you shoot a
better video. Make sure you pay
attention to your surroundings and lighting, write a script and practice it and
get a great microphone so that your message will be heard.
Either way, creating effective video is a great way to market your
business. "You can't NOT afford it."
says Lewis, "If your competitors are using video, you need to keep up. If they
aren't, you need to get ahead of them."
