Colorado's own Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs is ranked number 10 in the nation for America's top undergraduate schools in the Forbes Annual Ranking of the 650 Best Undergraduate Institutions.

In all, 12 of Colorado's schools were ranked in the top 650 (out of thousands of colleges considered).

Colorado College, also in Colorado Springs, is the number 2 Colorado school on the Forbes list with a ranking of 31 nationwide.

The rest of the Colorado top ranked schools listed in Forbes are:

• Colorado School of Mines in Golden
• University of Denver
• University of Colorado at Boulder
• Colorado State University in Fort Collins
• Fort Lewis College in Durango
• University of Colorado Denver
• Western State College of Colorado in Gunnison
• University of Northern Colorado in Greeley
• Colorado Mesa University (formerly Mesa State College) in Grand Junction
• Metro State College of Denver

The rankings were based on educational outcomes, including post-graduate success, student satisfaction, debt, four year graduation rate and competitiveness awards, according to Forbes.com.
