Existing home sales across
the U.S. continued to recover in the first quarter of 2011. Forty-nine states showed gains from the previous
quarter in 2010 and 22 percent of metropolitan areas saw prices rise from a
year ago, according to a survey by the National Association of Realtors®.
Colorado Home Sales
increased 5.6 percent in the first quarter, up from the end of last year, but
overall they were down 8.15 percent year over year.
Denver metro area home
prices remained nearly flat, year over year, showing a slight decline of .4
percent; with an average sales price of $223,800 in the first quarter of 2011
compared to 224,800,the year before.
In the Colorado
Springs area the median sales price of existing apartment, condo, co-ops also
nearly remained the same with a small decline of .2 percent, year over year,
from $128,700 in the 1st quarter of 2010 to $128,400 in 2011.
