Computers are great, they have advanced our society and made our work, creative, and personal lives easier, or have they? Of course they have, but as with any good thing, there are draw backs. The computer is addicting. They should come up with a 12 step program for computer use. I use the computer at work and then go home and am on the computer again. I have even cut my cable company in favor of watching my programs on the computer (which I really dont do that much, thats why I stopped using a cable provider for watching TV).
I need to get back to nature! I am from that generation where we played outside and rode our bikes everywhere, if we dared to say Im board, it meant we cleaned the house, and I mean really cleaned the house. So staying cooped up in front of a computer seems unnatural to me, although I do it. Its fun and I get a lot done, but what about nature time, what about family time and what about time management?
All important elements in our lives, we need other input. When we hear "time management" we automatically think of people like Covey and programs and seminars. Thats not what I mean. I mean including time to go and play, either with our friends or family or even taking some time for ourselves. Learning some basic time saving tips for computer use would benefit us all, maybe giving us a little more time for other things. Here is 5 rules to help you manage your email.
