Nancy Umbreit opens new Metro Brokers office in Niwot, Colorado

MetroBrokersTV: You are watching another great episode at metrobrokerstv.com. I am Scott Shields, communication and marketing event specialist for Metro Brokers and I am joined here today with Nancy Umbreit down at the CAR state convention. Nancy, thank you for taking the time and talking with us today.

Nancy Umbreit: My pleasure. My pleasure.

MetroBrokersTV: So, Nancy, tell me how did you get started with Metro Brokers?

Nancy Umbreit: Well, it was probably, after I had been in business about 8-9 years in a standard, you know, real estate office, giving away all my commission, I decided that was time to stop and I got my managing broker's license and joined a Metro Brokers office in Boulder and was there for four years.

MetroBrokersTV: So, what was it about Metro Brokers? Was it the independence? The way you can run your business your own way? What was it for you? What was your story?

Nancy Umbreit: Well, I think it was the independence. I have many, many years of marketing behind my 16 years of real estate and I really wanted to be able to run my own company, but still have the, I guess just the backup that Metro Brokers gives you, the education, the guidance, the website, all the many resources they have available for an almost nonexistent fee and also the name, because the name is well recognized.

Metro Brokers TV: We now know that you love Metro Brokers and I hear that now you are a new office owner. Is that correct?

Nancy Umbreit: I am. I just got granted a new office license, just less than a week ago in Niwot, Colorado.

Metro Brokers TV: Where exactly in Niwot?

Nancy Umbreit: It is real close to the high school. It's 6897 Paiute Avenue, Niwot, Colorado and we are in Suite #2, and we are going to be open for business November 1st.

Metro Brokers TV: Well, congratulations on that. So, being in Niwot, what is real estate like up in Niwot? It's not really Denver Metro, but it is not too far mountains[Phonetic]. What is real estate going on up there?

Nancy Umbreit: Well, Niwot is a, more than anything else, a bedroom community of Boulder, Colorado. It's a small farming town that has retained its farming influence and is a bedroom community with houses ranging from $200,000 to multiple million dollars and it is a very tight knit community. Myself and my partner have worked that area for all of our careers and while we will be covering, we are called Metro Brokers of Boulder County. So, we will be covering all of Boulder County, but we have a lot of background in Niwot. So, we will be covering, giving them a little extra special attention.

Metro Brokers TV: Well, Nancy, thank you so much for coming down and talking with us today. Nancy Umbreit: My pleasure Scott. Metro Brokers TV: Thats another great episode at metrobrokerstv.com. From Stay home Mom To Board President

MetroBrokersTV: Hi. I am Amy Chase with Metro Brokers and I am here today with Sandy Trujillo. Welcome Sandy.

Sandy Trujillo: Thank you Amy.

MetroBrokersTV: You bet. So, Sandy tell me a little bit about your background. How long have you been a realtor, been in the business, and been with Metro Brokers?

Sandy Trujillo: Absolutely. I have been in the business since 1993 and Metro Brokers for the last three years. Before this I was a mom and taking care of the kids at home, but real estate has been a wonderful career. It has given me opportunities that I would not have had otherwise and I have been with Metro Brokers at John Scardino's office at Littleton and Broadway & Dry Creek and phenomenal office. We've got over a 100 people there and there is such a wonderful synergy there; I really love that office.

MetroBrokersTV: And do you have any broker associates working underneath you?

Sandy Trujillo: I have a partner, Diana Graham; she and I partner together. We just do all our business together. With my duties this year as Chair of the Board of Realtors, I am going to be doing quite a bit of traveling this year. So, having a partner is wonderful where our customers and clients will not see any difference with me being out of town because she is there or vice versa.

MetroBrokersTV: Now, you mentioned the Board of Realtors.

Sandy Trujillo: Yes.

MetroBrokersTV: Which board do you belong to and what role do you play there?

Sandy Trujillo: Well, I belong to the South Metro Denver Realtor® Association where I have belonged since I have been a realtor and I am the Chairman of the Board starting October 1st.

MetroBrokersTV: Congratulations.

Sandy Trujillo: We are having my inaugural on the 24th of this month and our house representative Frank McNulty is actually going to be my MC for that event. So, it is just going to be a wonderful night.

MetroBrokersTV: How did you decide to become involved in volunteering through SMDRA?

Sandy Trujillo: You know the CEO Carol Vieira at the time caught me in the hallway once. I go to the marketing sessions every Friday, almost every Friday and she was saying, "Would you like to help with the REALTOR® rally committee?" and I thought, "Well, sure, why not?" So, I started helping with the rally and I must have done that eight years and then got involved in some other things and the more you start helping at any kind of organization, the more passionate you get about it, the more you understand the workings of it and what goes on and how you can even be a help and make things better for the rest of the community.

MetroBrokersTV: Can you tell us a little bit about how SMDRA interacts with local government and its citizens?

Sandy Trujillo: Well, we've actually had several bills come up this past year that were very critical. We've had bills regarding water rights and property rights and documentary fee has been the biggest thing that our legislation is trying to introduce and they are doing that in the guise of affordable housing.

MetroBrokersTV: What do you find is the biggest issue that SMDRA is tackling right now?

Sandy Trujillo: Oh, I think the prevailing fact out there is people just don't understand the benefits they get from the board and we are trying to really work on showing the members what they do get for their dues dollars.

MetroBrokersTV: Before we go, do you have any advice for our fellow REALTOR® as far as finding out how their boards can work for them and to their advantage?

Sandy Trujillo: You know take advantage of the classes; most of them are free and there are forums at least once a month that you can go to and really find out. Last month we hosted five of the local mayors and the mayors told us what was going on in their cities. You know to listen at those mayors, you would go, "Wow, the economy is not as bad as the press seems to make it out because there is stuff vitally happening everyday in each community."

MetroBrokersTV: Thank you Sandy for coming.

Sandy Trujillo: I appreciate it.

MetroBrokersTV: Thank you so much.

Sandy Trujillo: You bet.

MetroBrokersOnline.com hits 100,000 property listings

MetroBrokersTV: I am Amy Chase with Metro Brokers TV and I am here today with Mike Bradley broker/owner and also the chairman of the Metro Brokers technology committee. Welcome Mike.

Mike Bradley: Thank you very much.

MetroBrokersTV: So, tell me a little bit, I know that we have just added another MLS system to the website MetroBrokersOnline.com, which brings us to eight MLS'. Is that correct?

Mike Bradley: Yes, we launched a site in March with seven IDX MLS' and have just added the Aspen, Glenwood Springs MLS. So, that's eight MLS systems throughout the state and approaching nearly 100,000 listings on our website now.

MetroBrokersTV: Tell me a little bit about what that means for us as Metro Broker agents and what feedback are you receiving?

Mike Bradley: The feedback so far has been very positive. Aspen, Colorado is such a high vacation home destination. It's hopefully going to increase traffic from out of state as well as our presence online and our presence and market share in Colorado. So, metrobrokersonline.com is growing just like we planned and it definitely comes up every where.

MetroBrokersTV: Great. Exciting stuff. Thanks for joining us Mike.

Mike Bradley: Thank you very much.
