Dick Crook on the entrepreneurship of Metro Brokers

MetroBrokersTV: Hi. I am Scott Shields and I am here with Metro Brokers TV down at the CAR state convention and I am joined with Dick Crook. Dick, thanks for coming and talking with us today.

Dick Crook: Well, it's, I am glad to be here.

MetroBrokersTV: Oh, we are glad to have you here Dick. Tell us about your Metro Brokers experience? How did you get started with Metro Brokers?

Dick Crook: It has been a lot of years, but I have always liked the Metro Broker model. I think that they are for an announcement of this is what you want to do when you grow up and be a real estate broker. So, it is owning your own business that appealed to me a lot and Metro Brokers is a lot of entrepreneurs that resist organization sometimes and they want to do their own thing. They are long term into the business and thats partly how I got involved. I have been with Metro Brokers about 16 years and I have been in real estate about 35 years. <watch video>

MetroBrokersTV: And you are also an office owner right now. So, can you tell us a little about your office, where it is located and what goes on at your office, what you offer?

Dick Crook: You know, ours is Metro Brokers Centennial office is off Revere Parkway and Centennial and we have a class A, real nice facility, a lot of energy in there. We have got about 26 companies and 68 agents under our roof. Its a good group of people and we just have a lot of energy going on in there.

MetroBrokersTV: That's great. Where do you see the real estate industry going and where do you see Metro Brokers being positioned in the real estate industry?

Dick Crook: Well, this is as good a time as anybody could ever get into owning their own business in real estate like Metro Brokers. It really brings the cost down and gets you a brand exposure. So, statewide, you really get a good value with Metro Brokers. Where I see it going is that I see that more and more people will want to cut their expenses and own their own business and be more Metro Brokers. Where I see the industry going in general is that in the first quarter of 2009, we are going to have probably the most amount of adjustments on adjustable rate mortgages that has happened in history from the option ARMs that were done three to five years ago. So, we are not... we are not done with the foreclosure wave, but we are going to come out of it in '09 and it is going to be a better year; this time next year, if we are down at the convention next year, we would be talking about how well it has recovered. So, I do believe that long term, we have seen a lot of ups and downs, but there have always been an upward plane. They have always helped the market move along.

MetroBrokersTV: Well, you heard it right here, right now, it's a great time to be a Metro Broker. For information, check out the other videos on this site.

Dave Miley - Metro Brokers benefits for Commercial Real Estate Brokers

MetroBrokersTV: Live from the convention floor at the Colorado Association of Realtors State Convention. I am Scott Shields with metrobrokerstv.com. My special guest joining me today is Dave Miley with Metro Brokers. Dave, thank you so much for coming down and speaking with us.

Dave Miley: It's a pleasure to be here Scott.

MetroBrokersTV: Now, Dave, a lot of people know that in Metro Brokers, we definitely have residential Realtors®, but we also have commercial Realtors® with Metro Brokers. Would you mind talking to us a little more about the commercial Realtors®?

Dave Miley: Well, we have at least 60 agents or brokers that are working commercial within the Metro Broker company.

MetroBrokersTV: And Metro Brokers allows for agents to do whatever kind of business they would like to do. What kind of benefits does Metro Brokers allow for commercial realtors?

Dave Miley: Well, we have recently created an organization within Metro Brokers to cater to the commercial brokers. We meet once a week. We share our inventory with each other and we also consider what we are going to do to help the other commercial brokers within Metro Brokers. For example, we have had a couple of classes, contracts classes, specifically commercial contract classes, that have been available to Metro Brokers for very reasonable costs and so, thats what we have done this year to try to cater to the commercial brokers and try to get the word out to other brokers in the commercial community that Metro Brokers is a good place for commercial people to be.

MetroBrokersTV: Well, that's great to hear. So, rather it is residential, commercial or even land development or investment properties, Metro Brokers has it all for you. This is another true success story right here on the state floor. I am Scott Shields with metrobrokerstv.com.

Neil Kimmel expresses his excitement for the Metro Brokers brand

MetroBrokersTV: Coming to you live from the Colorado Association of Realtors State Convention at the Broadmoor Hotel. I am Scott Shields with Metro Brokers TV and I am joined here with Neil Kimmel. Neil, thanks for coming down.

Neil Kimmel: You are welcome. Thank you.

MetroBrokersTV: Neil, talk to us about the convention. How is your experience going so far with Metro Brokers and the state convention this year?

Neil Kimmel: I personally think the greatest they did this year is the opening dinner. They had the banner across there with Metro Brokers, the metropolitan area as the background with the Metro Brokers symbol on both ends. I thought that was great because it exposes the whole state; this is a state convention, it exposes the whole state to the possibility that they could become a Metro Broker. So, I think it was the greatest advertising gimmick I have seen for quite some time. It was worth every dime we put into it. So,

MetroBrokersTV: That's great to hear that our members are getting appreciation out of that, but talk to us about your experience at Metro Brokers. Why did you join Metro Brokers?

Neil Kimmel: This has been almost 20 years ago that we joined Metro Brokers. My wife was coming into real estate, we were at the RE/MAX then and then it was double the fee, the desk fee and that was more than my house payment. So, I thought that is the last thing I need. So, I looked around and joined Metro Brokers because the fees were so much better. That was the reason I joined Metro Brokers plus it gives us a chance as a small operation not to be overwhelmed. We are not a mom and pop organization. We have got three other people working with us and it ties us into a name that's known in Colorado with Metro Brokers. So, its just not Kimmel and Company, it's really, it's Metro Brokers and that ties us in with a lot of people throughout the state and Metro Brokers ought to be really excited by the fact that so many of our members actually are in leadership positions and I think you put out a count to that effect and I think that's important, that we are giving back to the state association and back to the community. So, I think that's a real part of Metro Brokers.

MetroBrokersTV: Well, I definitely think that this year we will have, be known that Metro Brokers has continued to grow across Colorado and for more information about our growth and the success of Metro Brokers, go to metrobrokersonline.com or metrobrokerstv.com.
