| NAR Grants Help Working Families in a Tough Economy |
|
The National Association of Realtors' (NAR) Ira Gribin Workforce Housing Grants program is helping to meet the demands for low- to moderate-income families in need of affordable housing.
To date, NAR has awarded more than $3.4 million to state and regional REALTOR® associations to help fund programs that promote safe, decent housing. The program was established in 2009 and is named in honor of Ira Gribin, a former NAR president who was a tireless advocate for fair and affordable housing for diverse populations.
The one-time grants are used to support a wide variety of housing solutions, including downpayment and financial assistance programs, home buyer or REALTOR® education, public awareness and advocacy campaigns, and housing construction and rehabilitation. Awarded on a sliding scale based on REALTOR® association membership, grants have so far been awarded to 31 state associations or foundations.
