Metro Brokers TV: Merry Christmas. We are down here at the Volunteers of America
in Denver, Colorado.
And I am with Greg Hume. Welcome
Greg.
Greg Hume: Thank you very much Mark.
Metro Brokers TV: This is just fascinating Greg, I am down
here. I had no idea that this is really
what you are up to, when I look at all the toys back here and all the kids
involved. It's incredible.
Greg Hume: Well, it's something we started 12 years ago
that, actually the support staff at Metro Brokers introduced our office to it
and it's a situation where all these people are identified as people of need
and then the Safeway Corporation with [Inaudible] Helms gives out 2000 food baskets and
we became involved because for some of these children it will be the first new
thing, they have ever had, meaning that there is 5, 4, 6 years old, what ever,
they come from very large families and everything they have ever had is a hand
me down and they get a good toy, not a bad toy that won't even last Christmas
morning, and it's just a great feeling.
This morning as an example two young ladies came in here at 19 degrees
wearing bath robes as their jackets. So
there is a need and all of us at Metro Brokers live together and fulfill it.
Metro Brokers TV: Wow! So
how many toys that you guys get down here this year then?
Greg Hume: We purchased, wrapped and transported down
here over 850 good quality toys.
Metro Brokers TV: Yeah, we are not talking about cheap stocking
stuff, we are talking about good quality usable toys.
Greg Hume: Yeah, something that will last a child
morning, Christmas morning.
Metro Brokers TV: So you are on the Metro Brokers office on Quebec. Can you pretty much take most of the credit
for this thing Greg as far as your office, your people and getting this
together as far as toys?
Greg Hume: I think that's true, but the community spirit
with Metro Brokers and we are hoping that every year we get more and more
through the whole system to make it really a dynamic thing that we do as a
group.
Metro Brokers TV: Well myself, I am a Metro Broker with you and
I didn't really realize the impact, just coming down here and that's part of
what we are trying to do with Metro Brokers TV is, when people see things
visually, it's a whole, it means a whole new meaning, well Greg in his office is
doing a toy drive. Well, [Inaudible]
really come down here and [Inaudible] really see what you have done, all the
toys here, all the kids out there. It
doesn't, I think it goes in on one side, and out the other for most
people. So this is really fantastic.
Greg Hume: Well, look at it this way. It was 16 degrees when I got here today and
this is a very large building. It's hard
that we can't see that on TV and the line was wrapped completely around the
building and some of these people have probably been outside in this very frigid
weather two hours and they are still coming in.
It is pretty gaga and wonderful and it's not about our office, it's
about these kids.
Metro Brokers TV: Oh absolutely. So you are saying this year you had some more
donations as far as some of the gifts?
Greg Hume: We had donations from many of our clients, we
had a few from the Metro Corporate office, a foundation helped this out. So we again hit our goal, our goal every year
is a 1000 toys and we are going to get back here next year.
Metro Brokers TV: And so there will be, are there enough toys
for the kids to be served here or do they still need more?
Greg Hume: Today I think well, it will be dicey, but I
think we will be able to serve lots of the children today.
Metro Brokers TV: Excellent, well this is a great thing that
you are doing Greg, I ... it's means a lot to me, just see it down you are doing
it.
Greg Hume: Thank you very much.
Metro Brokers TV: Great job, I appreciate it.
