Avid Ratings recently conducted its Third Annual Home Design Drivers Survey, receiving in-depth feedback through posing 75 questions to more than 900 recent new home buyers about the importance of various design features if they were in the market again, and identified the top five features in four different designations:

• Must-Have: something that must be present for the homeowner to buy
• Desirable: something the homeowner really wants
• Tradable: something that the homeowner is willing to give upif it means getting something else they'd really want
• Removable: something the homeowner doesn't care much for and can do without

The top five in each category was released with their findings and the top five "must-haves" were:

• Oversized shower with seating
• Energy-efficient appliances
• Sizable kitchen
• Ceiling fans/blinds
• Home office/study
