Social Media is an important
marketing tool in the real estate business but it needs to be done consistently
in order to be effective. Inman News Marketing
Manager, Katie Lance writes about the 3 Social Media Mistakes Agents and
Brokers Make. "I always keep one eye on what real estate agents and brokerages are
doing in the social media world. As you all know, simply creating an account on
Facebook or Twitter rarely equates to being plugged in."
yle="font-size: small;">Here are three common mistakes to avoid as outlined in Lance's article:
1.) Start
small. The most common excuses for
not spending the necessary time developing your social media marketing is that "it
takes too much time". Look into the most
popular websites, LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter, and start with the one that
makes the most sense for you.
2.) Do
it Yourself. Dont pawn off the responsibility to an
assistant or someone who might not be as good at communicating your message.
3.) Remember
your Audience. Keep the message simple and directed towards
your clients. What do they want to know
about? Dont overwhelm them with too
much information, keep your audience engaged.
How do you know if your message is
getting out there? Monitor your website
and blog traffic. Set up Google
Analytics on your site to help you determine where your traffic is coming from.
