House Tipper, a new, online group coupon service says it is "the
premier advertising and collective buying platform fro the Real Estate and Home
& Garden Industry. We
bring incredible savings to consumers while generating new business for local
companies."
Much like Groupon, House
Tipper pre-negotiates deals from real estate agents, developers, property
managers, store owners and a variety of other businesses to offer deals to
consumers. The deal has to be "tipped"
which means that a minimum number of people have to buy into the deal before
they are charged for it.
Inman News looked into the service and wonders if paying for a $25 coupon
upfront for, say, a lower commission and a free carpet cleaning will bring new
customers? They enlisted the expertise of
consultant Pat Kitano, the founding principal of Domus Consulting Group.
"Having to pay upfront might dissuade many potential clients,"
Kitano thinks. "So another approach might be to offer a free service, such as a
home inspection, and have the agent pay the coupon provider. The consumer would
provide contact info, which would be passed along to the real estate agent only
if the agent agreed to pay a specified fee, such as $25, after seeing the
prospective client's social media profile."
Lead generation is top priority in a real estate agents day, but
the customer base for real estate is much smaller than, for instance, a
restaurant and it might not draw in enough buyers to "tip" the deal.
"The solution," Kitano says, "might be for coupon providers to
create deal syndication networks with real estate sites like Trulia or Zillow,
real estate brokerages, and hyperlocal networks."
