The record lows are starting to rise a bit last month. Existing Home Sales rose 7.6 percent bringing the seasonally adjusted rate to 4.13 million. This still leaves August as the second worst month in just about a decade. More good news for the housing market, the median house prices rose from last year.

Bad news for the presidents mortgage plan, more people are dropping out that are signing up and actually getting help.

A White Picket Fence Around Your Geo Area

Creative Commons License photo credit: nickmickolas

Do you know about those invisible fences for dogs? You know the ones you use to train your dog not to leave your yard. When they cross your yards boundaries they get a shock, there is now something like that for us humans. Instead of a shock we get an email or an alert.

It does sound pretty cool for a lot of reasons. Imagine youre a real estate agent trying to sell a home to picky clients. You have shown them just about everything you have in your basket, and you have driven them to just about every property in town. Later that week, they are driving around on their way to the spa and they get a text message telling them there is a home matching their needs just up the street and to the right. It also tells them there is a Starbucks and a 24hr. Fitness six blocks from that too.

So, this new technology sets up a perimeter and lets you know when you are in or out of it, and it lets you know whats around you as well. If you input that you are interested in new construction and new neighborhoods, it will inform you if you happen to be near one. This takes a bit of the work load off people like real estate agents, and expands their reach and their tool box. Geo Fencing, the new mobile technology, interesting!

Hardest Hit Places

Las Vegas
Creative Commons License photo credit: dschubba

America has felt a devastating blow, not just to our pocket books and portfolios, but to our sense of who we are. We have always be industrious and overcome hard times; however we are facing some rather large obstacles at the moment. The whole country has felt the economic crash in one way or another, but some places are simply devastated. Such is the case in Las Vega, Nevada; they are in a state of emergency. One of the hardest hit places in the county; they are struggling to stay above water.

Forecasters say its going to get worse before it gets better, and they are asking for another round of stimulus to help them recover.

Mortgage Rates Slowly Climbing

fixed rates
Creative Commons License photo credit: TheTruthAbout...

Mortgage rates have climbed for the second week in a row, but at 4.37 they havent climbed much. A survey from Fannie Mae show that Americans view of real estate is a safe investment is declining.

There is a long trail of glom and doom in the real estate market forecasts. With two new groups responding to the housing mess it doesnt help the market bounce back like we hope it would. Some are watching on the sidelines waiting for rates to drop even further before they buy and the other group has completely stopped buying altogether.
