Seniors Real Estate Specialist

Mary Barela-Cordova is a Seniors Real Estate Specialist who specializes in downsizing.  She is the managing broker of Metro Brokers Bear Creek office and handles all types of residential real estate and is an expert working with banks and bank-owned properties, relocations and first time home buyers.

Interviewer:  Hi, I am Kathy Soltero with Metro Brokers TV and today we have in the studio with us Mary Barela Cordova and she is with BC Realty.  Thank you so much for coming in Mary.

Mary:  Hi Kathy.

Interviewer:  Tell me a little bit about yourself and your business.

Mary:  Well I'm pretty excited because my husband Mike and I just opened up our own Metro Broker officeIt's the most recent Metro Broker office opened in the state of Colorado, last July we opened it and we now have 23 agents.

Interviewer:  Wow! That's awesome.

Mary:  We are very excited, it's a fabulous location, we're in Lakewood and we are right next to Bear Creek, which is great because our name is Metro Brokers Bear Creek

Interviewer:  Very good.

Mary:  And then my office is BC Realty because of my last name Barela Cordova but I grew up in the BC, in the Bear Creek area.

Interviewer:  Okay, so a lot of identification there.

Mary:  Yes, yes so we are very excited.

Interviewer:  How long have you been in the business?

Mary:  I have been in the business 10 years, and I've been with Metro Brokers for seven and at about year six, no I'm sorry at about year five, I started looking into opening my own office, so we took a little bit of time.  And a lot of thought, and lot of planning and it was all set perfect last year.

Interviewer:  What about your experience in real estate, what sort of designations do you have in the 10 years you have been in the business, I'm sure you have probably done a lot.

Mary:  I have done a lot, I'm a certified residential specialist, I'm an REO certified, which means I work with banks and bank owned properties.  And I'm also an SRES, which is a Seniors Real Estate Specialist working with people that are downsizing and that kind of thing.  So I also have that designation and I'm a managing broker.  So I have eight associates that I manage personally.  And  one of the big things when we were opening our office is we wanted to make sure that we had people that were positive, energetic, caring people come to our office and that's what I'm looking for with my new brokers and actually I'm looking for more brokers now.  So I'm on my way.

Interviewer:  That's excellent, you are involved in your community, tell me about some of the programs that you are involved with?

Mary:  My husband and I have always been supporters of Colorado Cerebral Palsy.  So that's an organization that's very dear to our heart because we have some personal experience there with Cerebral Palsy.  And we've always supported them and then once a year, they have an annual car show at the Arapahoe Community College right there in campus.  We have a booth there, and we get our name out there, and we get to meet a lot of nice people and it's just for great cause.

Interviewer:  So for real estate how is anybody going to get a hold of you?

Mary:  Oh wait! We missed one more thing, The Seniors' Resource Center, I am a big supporter there, as well, I'm so sorry.

Interviewer:  We know with your designation that's important because you have that kind of connection there.

Mary:  Absolutely and I am, have been very involved there, my mother was a social worker there for 20 years and worked with people that have Alzheimer's and stroke victims and I volunteer there and I also helped them, they're building a new building.  So I helped to raise money and give money and that kind of thing as well.

Interviewer:  How can clients get a hold of you?

Mary:  You can always reach me on my cell phone at 303-931-5871.  And of course if you Google me, because this is, you know I'm way up there, you are going to see all my information, but certainly you can e-mail me as well at mary.bcrealty@comcast.net.  Just like my name of my business.

Interviewer:  Okay, well thank you very much for coming in and sharing all that with us.

Mary:  Well you're welcome and thank you for asking me to be here and I look forward to helping Metro Brokers grow and now it's a great time to join, it's a fabulous corporation and we're always looking for excited, energetic realtors that want to work with us.

Interviewer:  Good, Mary thank you very much for coming in today.  We really appreciate, you sharing all that with us.

Mary:  You're welcome.

The Esky Knows Real Estate Team Knows Denver!

With 38 years of experience in the business... Team Esky knows everything there is to know about the Denver metro area!

"We are constantly keeping up with what's new in the industry and we believe in customer service," says Mark Eskanos. "We keep in touch with all of our clients through Facebook, LinkedIn and our blog."

"In the summer," adds Gayle Eskanos, "we have a huge barbecue that we invite everyone to.  It's a great way for everyone we know to interact and for us to catch up with friends and customers."

New to Town?  Let Mark, a third generation Denverite, give you his famous "Nickel Tour" through "his" town of Denver.  "Denver is a vibrant city," says Mark, "To understand what our town is all about, you have to go see it.  I love to show people all the famous and beautiful places in Denver."

Visit their website at EskyKnows.com.

Interviewer:  Hi, I am Kathy Soltero with metrobrokerstv.com.  Today we are in the studio with Mark and Gayle Eskanos, and they are with the EskyKnows Real Estate Team.  Welcome, thank you so much for coming in today.

Mark & Gayle Eskanos:  Thank you for having us.

Interviewer:  Tell me a little bit about how that EskyKnows team kind of came about?

Mark Eskanos:  Growing up, you know all kids get a moniker; I have an unusual last name... Eskanos.  So my brothers and I got called the Esky brothers.

Interviewer:  Okay.

Mark Eskanos:  And then everyone always calls to ask questions since I am a third generation Denverite.  Everyone asks: "Do you know where we can go?" "Do you know who we can call?"...etc.

Gayle EskanosBecause he knows everything about Denver

Mark Eskanos:  Years ago, Gayle said we ought to be the Esky Knows Real Estate Team and that's how it all got started.

Interviewer:  So now again...

Gayle EskanosBecause Esky knows... he knows!

Interviewer:  Right, you know a lot about real estate, how long have you been in the business?

Mark EskanosI've been in business for 38 years.

Interviewer:  That's awesome and you have been a team together for...

Mark & Gayle EskanosWe have been a team for 15 years.

Interviewer:  15 years okay, tell me a little bit about what's unique about your team, besides the fact that you're husband and wife and that you work together.

Gayle Eskanos:  That's unique, in and of itself!

Interviewer:  Having stayed together that long.

Mark Eskanos:  There is a lot that's unique in that, from a real estate perspective, and I'll let Gayle address the people perspective.  From the real estate perspective it's the years of experience, it's constantly being out-front, it's constantly learning and going to classes, and I always want to learn more.  I always want to be at the leading edge of real estate.  So that experience is what I can offer and Gayle is just the most incredible people person, but we are both from the old school believe in this word called customer service.

Interviewer:  That's the most important thing... and that's not just old school, that's what we have to deliver today.

Mark Eskanos:  So many people want it.

Gayle EskanosSocial media today is customer service, really.

Interviewer:  So are you in the social media, do you do a lot of that online and that sort of thing too...

Gayle Eskanos:  We do some online, we are learning, we are getting there, Mark knows more about the computer than I do, but I like the social aspect of it, but in our business we have been doing social media forever, it seems like...

Mark Eskanos:  Forever.

Gayle Eskanos:  We invite clients to our home for dinner parties, people that we know that will get along and we have a barbeque. Mark loves to barbeque.  So we invite everyone in the summer, we have about 150 people for a barbeque in the backyard and that's it.   Everybody intermingles...asking, "Are you a friend?"  "Are you a customer?"

Interviewer:  And what a great way, it's kind of the old fashion way, but still everybody passes your name along and loves you and...

Gayle Eskanos:  Absolutely.

Mark Eskanos:  We are doing LinkedIn, we use a great email program and we are really constant with our emails and consistent with Facebook and so it's really a great blend.

Interviewer:  That's wonderful; tell me about the "Nickel Tour" real quickly.

Mark Eskanos:  Well, when people come into town, and people that are in town that don't know anything about Denver... before I do anything else- taking them to neighborhood, showing them a house- I say, "You've got to understand what my town is all about'"  Denver is mine.  And I know everything about Denver, history and I put them in the car, we usually drive for about three hours and take them all through Denver and show them all the great old places and what's going on new and what a vibrant city we are and...

Gayle Eskanos:  Hard to believe, Mark can talk for three and half hours, but he does.

Interviewer:  No, that's awesome.

Mark Eskanos:  We have one famous stop, we have to take a break and we stop at a little monument over off of Speer Boulevard and I stop and I am very solemn, and I say, you know you have to get out of the car and...

Gayle Eskanos:  Pay homage.

Mark Eskanos:  ...pay homage to this place that we are at, and they go and read this little monument and it's the Home of the Cheeseburger, it's where the cheeseburger was invented!

Interviewer:  Well, that's awesome.

Mark Eskanos:  So really a lot of fun.

Interviewer:  That's great, well Mark and Gayle thank you so much for coming in it's the EskyKnows Real Estate Team

Mark Eskanos:  Thank you.

Gayle Eskanos:  Thank you very much.

Interviewer:  And we just appreciate all that you do and you know what I am sure if people want to know more about you they can go to your website, is that right?

Mark & Gayle Eskanos:  Absolutely.

Mark Eskanoseskyknows.com.

Interviewer:  All right, thank you so much.

Mark Eskanos:  Thank you.

Gayle Eskanos:  Take care.

Interviewer:  And for more real estate related videos like this one be sure to tune in to metrobrokerstv.com.

First Time Buyers Win with Jeff Alexander

Jeff Alexander of Alexander Pro Realty, is a Bronco veteran who decided to stay in Colorado when he retired from football, and began a career in real estate in 1993.

Jeff says that his years playing football "taught him alot about teamwork" which he applies to his real estate business.

Jeff specializes in first time buyers and keeping in touch with clients who want to move up and refer friends and family to him.  He focuses on the entire Denver metro area and Aurora.

Make Jeff part of your team.  You can reach Jeff at Jeff@AlexanderProRealty.net   or through his website at Metro Brokers Online.

Interviewer: Hi, I am Kathy Soltero with MetroBrokersTV.com and today we have in our studio with us, Jeff Alexander with Alexander Pro Realty. Thank you so much for coming in.

Jeff Alexander:  Thanks for having me.

Interviewer:  You bet. You are a former Bronco, we are so privileged to have you with us as part our Metro Brokers team, tell me about yourself and your business?

Jeff Alexander:  Well thank you, I have played with the Broncos and that's how I was able to come out to Colorado and that was in '88, and I was with them '88, '89, and in '90 I was out of football and '91 I went over to Europe and played with a team called the London Monarchs in '91 and '92, and '92 I finished up with the Broncos and that was my last year professional football.  I started in real estate in '93 and full time in '96 and I am still in the business.  So business, even though it might not be as good as I like it to be, I'm still, I am still here so.

Interviewer:  You are "rocking and rolling" with it.

Jeff Alexander:  Business must be okay

Interviewer:  That's right, that's good and so you've been in the business since '93 what would you tell me are your expertise areas, what sort of things you like to do the best?

Jeff AlexanderI like to deal with first time homebuyers, and that's, that's basically my business.  When I started in the business, I was kind of more focused into it by doing that. I was focusing in with them starting off in a home and then moving up to a larger home as their family grows, and that has worked out pretty well for me, because right now most of my business, if not all of my business is dealing with referrals.

Interviewer:  Okay, and what areas or town are you working in mostly?

Jeff Alexander:  I'm working in the Denver area, the Aurora south area. I am one of the old realtors, so if they call from another area, I will drive, I go out to others areas like Parker, Castle Rock and I sell homes there, but basically I sell in the Denver metro areas as well as in Aurora.

Interviewer:  What organizations are you part of that may be help do your real estate that sort of thing?

Jeff Alexander:  Well, do we have enough time I am quite busy, well but some of the organizations I do participate in is the Montbello Falcons Football Club where I have been a coach for the last, past five years.  We play in the Arapahoe League, and I am a part of Daniel Chappie James Military Lodge # 27.  I am the Worshipful Master this year, so I am very proud of that.  I attend the True Light Baptist Church and they have been wonderful as far as business is concerned, and then being a former Bronco we do have the alumni association and a lot of the past Broncos have used me in transactions before.

Interviewer:  That's awesome, well congratulations for sticking through it all with real estate for so long, because I mean when you started it, it was picking up and then we've gone backwards again too so?

Jeff Alexander:  When I started, those were the good years. I like to say the mark was  slowly, gradually moving up, people were able to get in and buy.  And they really were able to do transaction between the seller as well as the buyer without having to go to the bank with short sales now.  So the market has changed over the years but fortunately I have been able to change with the market and be able to stay with the market.

Interviewer:  All right Jeff, tell us about your website, real quick so people know where to get a hold of you.

Jeff Alexanderjeff@alexanderprorealty.net.

Interviewer:  Okay, Jeff thank you so much, so interesting to talk to you and hear about your career and now your next life right.

Jeff Alexander:  Yes thank you so much.

Interviewer:  In real estate and for more real estate related videos like this one, be sure to tune into metrobrokerstv.com
