Do you feel like the great
opportunities never come your way? Can you name the people who just seem to
always be in the right place at the right time?
It's time to open yourself up to be at the right place, at the right time.
"I call (it) an
opportunity blind spot," says Rajesh Setty on OpenForum.com. If you
can see the opportunities that others have taken advantage of, you will
begin to see how you can be just as "lucky".
"If I ask you for a
description of every opportunity (that others have benefitted from). You will be able to give that to me." explains
Setty, "You will be able to highlight
the form, size and shape of those opportunities."
"An opportunity may be a book they wrote, a speech they
gave, a company they created or it may be an adventure they got a chance to
participate in." he says, "Whatever be the opportunity, it will be glaring
enough for you and everyone else to recognize it."
Recognize your "opportunity
blind spots". Think back on times
when you didn't recognize the opportunities that came your way. What did they look like? How can you
recognize them in the future and capitalize on them?
"You can be sure
that you are not looking at other opportunities right now." writes Setty. "They
are all around you. In their embryonic state, they don't even look like
opportunities. They might look like promise of work with very little guarantee
of any meaningful positive outcome."
Your new
opportunities are not the ones everyone is talking about. Those are gone by the time it's trending in
the media.
"The trick is to
train your mind to see something that others will recognize as an
opportunity after it's been fully developed and executed." states Setty.
You have to keep your eyes and mind open to seize the
great opportunities that will surely come your way.
